I knew early on, when my new book's manuscript was finished, that I wanted to have it available in every possible format, including an audiobook version. So, from almost the beginning, that was part of the plan for the book. I received some offers from others to read the book for the audiobook version, and while I was honored by those offers, I wanted to read it myself. I wanted people to hear my voice speaking these things into the world. I wanted it to be my voice, encouraging you, challenging you, and sharing hope and strength with you. So, into the studio I went and began the process of recording over 7 hours of me speaking the words that had poured out of my heart onto the written page over the past two years. I had to take quite a few breaks in between sessions, because speaking is actually more taxing on the vocal cords than singing is. Somewhere in the process of recording the voice-over parts, I decided that I wanted to do something else to make this audiobook unique and special for you. My solution was to add some original background music to it that would live behind my voice in the mix. So I spent a week in the studio writing, arranging, and recording a musical landscape to complement the spoken word. I am so excited and proud of the way it turned out. For those who love audiobooks and podcasts, I believe this is going to be a really cool experience for you. I would also say that even if you have never listened to an audiobook before, this might be one you would want to check out. It feels cinematic at times. The music adds an emotional depth and punch to the words. To me, it feels more connected than if the spoken words had been left naked with no sonic context. I hope you will feel the same after hearing it! You can pre-order it starting today, and it will come straight to your email inbox on February 17th.
